PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER; MATHS COORDINATOR, YEAR LEAD AND SCITT & NQT MENTOR (2015-2020)

Over the last 5 years, I have taught children with a plethora of needs, abilities, learning styles and backgrounds across Years 3 to 5.
Through careful scaffolding and differentiation, I have ensured my pupils are supported in their learning and that their understanding is consolidated and sound. For advanced learners, I have ensured their understanding is consistently enriched and extended and they are continuously encouraged to explain their understanding.

As Math s coordinator, I was responsible for the effective teaching of Mathematics across the entire school in EYFS, KS1 and KS2. My vision-setting was underpinned by accurate and careful evaluations on areas for development.

I have been Year Lead in Years 3, 4 and 5, whilst also managing two other year group teachers and support staff. As Year Lead, I was responsible for the overall progress and attainment of the year group, planning and resourcing, communicating with parents, intervention timetables and organising extra-curricular events.

As a Maths No Problem (Singapore style of teaching Maths) accredited school, I organised and led open days for schools interested in using MNP ans well as training days for those already following the scheme. Across the school, I have orchestrated daily arithmetic, spiral learning, Math s equipment stations in every class, CPA approach of teaching and children writing their mathematical explanations.

For the past 4 years, I have successfully mentored SCITT students and NQTs ensuring they become reflective, effective practitioners and ready for their own class. In this role, I was approachable and supportive, knowledgeable and fair, whilst confident tackling any issues with constructive criticism and devising resolutions.

TEACHING ASSISTANT (2012-2013)
Vibe Teaching

Working across KS1 and KS2, I support children with range of learning abilities and needs in both mainstream and special needs primary schools across London.

Working closely with the class teacher, Year Lead and SENCO, I supported specific children in a whole class setting, worked with guided groups and planned and led a range of interventions to support certain learners. Data of children s progress was then recorded and assessed and I devised the next steps for that child.

Teaching Approach/Style

I m a dynamic, creative and compassionate Primary School teacher with over 5 years of experience teaching children aged 6-10 in London. My core strengths are scaffolding learning for struggling learners, challenging and extending advanced learners and building an ethos of resilience, perseverance and confidence in my pupils. Learning should be fun and engaging. I use lots of educational games, investigations and activities in my lessons - learning needs to be brought to life! When teaching Maths, I introduce new concepts using Bruner s Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) approach, which embeds Maths mastery, develops children's Maths fluency and moves away from rote learning.
