A-Level & GCSE exams 2021 – the latest update from the Education Secretary

A-Level & GCSE exams 2021 – the latest update from the Education Secretary, Gavin Williamson, and The Department for Education – Monday 12th October.

The Education Secretary, Gavin Williamson, and The Department for Education have today (12/10/2020) confirmed the following:

  • The 2021 GCSE & A-Level exams will go ahead, albeit most will be delayed for 3 weeks to allow schools additional teaching time.
  • The Summer exam series will start on 7th June 2021 and end on 2nd July for almost all GCSEs and AS/A-levels.
  • However, one Maths and one English GCSE exam will be held, just before the May half-term, to give any year-11 pupils affected by Covid-19 the best chance of completing a paper in each of these core subjects. All other exams will start after 7th June and end on July 2nd.
  • Results for the 2021 GCSEs and A-Levels will be published within a few days of each other; A-Levels on Tuesday 24th August and GCSEs on Friday 27th August.
  • The DfE has confirmed there will not be any further content changes beyond those already announced.
